A SEARCH FOR A DIVA
Layla’s career prior to the Diva Search was as a dancer for the NBA’s Miami Heat and also appeared in music videos and concerts as a backing dancer. In 2006 she entered the Diva Search as she looked to enter the world of professional wrestling. During the competition Layla earned herself a week’s immunity after winning Diva Boot Camp in a arguably controversial fashion. She also went on to win the Diva Search Talent Show and eventually won the whole Diva Search beating out Jen England in the finals. She was twenty-eight when she won the Search officially making her the oldest woman to win the competition.Her official debut came at the 2006 Summerslam event where she had an initiation with divas such as Ashley and Trish Stratus. Following a few jibes they dragged her into the showers and proceeded to spank her. Layla debuted on the SmackDown! brand where she was interrupted by The Miz during an interview. She disappeared for a couple of weeks and then re-appeared getting into a few confrontations with Kristal and Jillian Hall. The disappearing act happened again until No Mercy when she tricked Miz by getting Oily Fat Guy to give him a birthday lap dance.
Layla’s in-ring debut came during a trick-or-treat battle royal on October 24. The Miz cost her the match giving Kristal the victory. A short Miz and Kristal pairing followed on with them arguing regularly with Layla. January 23 2007 saw Layla move to ECW as she joined Kelly and Brooke for the debut of Extreme Expose. Eventually Miz debuted on ECW and Brooke and Layla became infatuated with the newcomer. With Kelly's wandering eye angering both Layla and Miz a lot of tension has begun to build. Layla already holds a win over Kelly, but it's obvious she's far from finished.
