World Championship Gold

Daffney becoming a professional wrestler was a complete surprise. The psychotic character applied to participate in a casting call held by World Championship Wrestling in 1999. By November she was signed to a contract and called up to television as the deranged and besotted girlfriend of David Flair. The odd-ball character was first seen on television in December 1999 as she called David’s name whilst sitting on her bed. She then began managing David and his tag team partner Crowbar.

Prior to the whacky world of wrestling Daffney worked in Media Production putting her Bachelor of Arts Degree which she obtained at Georgia State University to good use. The casting call for WCW was too much to ignore and soon enough Daffney became a memorable figure for all fans of professional wrestling.

Daffney became one of few ladies to hold the WCW Cruiserweight Championship in May 2000 when she and her tag partner Crowbar defeated Chris Candido and Tammy Lynn Sytch. The tag stipulations declared them as co-holders of the belt, as you would expect things began heating up between Daffney and Crowbar. One week later Daffney beat Crowbar inadvertently when she tried reviving Crowbar after he received a sit-out piledriver from the former Champion.

That did not stop Daffney from celebrating being Cruiserweight Champion though. Her title reign lasted just sixteen days before Lt. Loco won the belt in a triple threat match also involving Disco Inferno (Loco pinned Inferno when Ms. Hancock attacked Daffney leaving her incapacitated). The interference led to a feud between the ‘Screamer’ and Ms. Hancock (Stacy Keibler).

The leggy blond began flirting with David Flair which irritated Daffney. The pair decided to settle their differences in a Wedding Gown Match which Daffney won. The feud faded into obscurity soon after as Daffney announced her managerial services were solely with Crowbar. A small feud ignited between Daffney and Torrie Wilson which ended when Daffney was released from the organisation in February 2001, one month before World Wrestling Federation purchased it.

Independent Screamer

Daffney continued training for eight months at Dusty Rhodes’ Turnbuckle Championship Wrestling. She began accepting independent bookings. In 2002/03 she appeared in Total Non-Stop Action promotion under the alias’ of Shannon and Shark Girl (the valet to Shark Boy). Daffney also appeared in XPW as Lucy Furr, the manager of Vic Grimes.

In July 2003 though Daffney was contacted by World Wrestling Entertainment. She was signed to a developmental deal and reported to Ohio Valley Wrestling. Daffney became the valet to Aaron ‘The Idol’ Stevens until she was released just one week before Christmas in 2003. Soon after Daffney hung up her boots after suffering a severe knee injury. She began working as a personal trainer and took acting jobs as and when she could.

Late-2006 witnessed Daffney make a full-time ring return. She won her third Championship for the NWA Wrestle Birmingham promotion by defeating El Mexico. In April 2007 she debuted for the all-women’s promotion SHIMMER Women’s Athletes as the manager to SHIMMER Champion MsChif. The Screamer took bookings elsewhere and began to become more active in the ring. She made her SHIMMER in-ring debut on the Volume 14 show against Lexie Fyfe.

The TNA Gimmick of Shark Girl also made a return to the independent circuit competing in both SHIMMER and the IWA-MS Volcano Girls 2 tournament.
