HONOUR Magazine - Issue #14

‘The Queen of Cosplay’ was one of two women who graced the cover of HONOUR Issue #14. Leva Bates and partner Allison Danger – known collectively as Regeneration X – both spoke to us about a series of topics relating to the careers inside and outside of the squared circle.

SHIMMER veteran, Allison Danger, discussed training with Brother Steve Corino and making the decision to not use the family name. The newly appointed President of Pro Wrestling SUN also takes us through the process of organising her first wrestling event as well as the impact motherhood has had upon her wrestling career.

Leva Bates, who has endeared herself to fans with her geektastic behaviour, explains why she chose to incorporate cosplay into her wrestling gimmick. Bates also tells us about her job outside of the ring – as a stunt woman at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida – and sheds some light on her training regimen under the highly accomplished Team 3D.

Former WWE Women’s Champion, Trish Stratus, makes her return to HONOUR with the second-part of her exclusive interview. The Tough Enough trainer answers our questions about the role of valets in professional wrestling, the importance of self-promotion as well as lifting the lid on which Diva she thinks WWE missed the boat on.

Stratus also touches upon the art of the ‘underdog’ story in wrestling and comments on its success with WWE’s most recent crop of models turned wrestlers. The record-setting Women’s Champion also talks about her huge title win in 2003 against Jazz and Victoria at Wrestlemania XIX.

We also sit down to talk with rising superstar Mia Yim. The wrestling rookie, who catapulted onto wrestling radars, last year talks to us about her most recent visit to wrestling Mecca, Japan. Yim – who has been working more frequently in Japan – tells us why she dreams of relocating to the country.

nCw Femmes Fatales International Champion Kalamity is also profiled following her huge win over LuFisto earlier last month. HONOUR looks at one of Canada’s most promising grapplers and analyses how her success can be beneficial to women’s wrestling in her native country.

We also take a look at former ICE Ribbon star and current SMASH Diva, Makoto, who has in the past expressed her dream of wrestling in WWE. Zackery Haley looks at the unique story of the shy grappler and talks about how her love of the business helped her overcome a major obstacle.

Mr. Glamazon returns with his instalment of ‘Diva Chronicles’ whilst HONOUR sits down to review a series of wrestling shows including AIW Girls Night Out 3, ACW Queen of Queens 3 and WSU’s Martinez vs. Lexxus event.
