RESPECT Magazine - Issue #12

RESPECT managed to track down SHIMMER Champion, Madison Eagles, who put down her fists just long enough to go into incredible detail about her meteoric rise on the North American independent wrestling circuit.

The Australian native, who also holds the PWWA Championship, spoke of her native wrestling scene. “I would have never thought that the Australian female wrestlers would be recognisable than the men of Australia,” said Eagles when asked about the global response to her. Also in the interview Eagles talks about juggling motherhood and wrestling, joining CHIKARA and defending the SHIMMER Championship outside of America for the very first time.

Speaking of Australia, we also talk to ‘Everybody’s Favourite Girlfriend’, Jessie McKay. The self-professed ‘Boyfriend Stealer’ has carved herself support amongst SHIMMER fans since joining the roster in 2008. McKay talks about how she handles fan support, the wrestling scene in her home nation and reveals her aspirations to join either of the two mainstream organisations in the USA.

The character of ‘The Glamazon’ Beth Phoenix is closely analysed by Darren Harris as he looks at re-packaging the hopeful former WWE Women’s Champion. As Phoenix looks set to lock horns with Kelly Kelly, the article looks at rebranding ‘The Glamazon’ as a “strong, beautiful and sadistic” character.

Zackery Haley pays close attention to the JWP Openweight Championship clash between Hailey Hatred and Yoneyama. In ‘The Big Fight’, the groundwork is outlined explaining the importance of the match to both combatants. But that’s not all; Yoneyama herself answered a handful of questions ahead of the huge bout.

Portia Perez takes the hot seat as the ‘Guest Writer’ for Issue #12. The former SHIMMER Tag Team Champion uses the opportunity to insult and talk down to absolutely everyone. It’s either the most despicable and egotistical piece you’ll read, or the most admirable and confident article in the history of RESPECT. You be the judge.

We also take a look at Eve Torres latest comments in an article with a local newspaper. ‘We have it hardest,’ said Torres when asked about the lifestyle of a Diva in WWE. Mr. Glamazon also writes another edition of ‘Diva Chronicles’ and we print the ‘Womanist Revolution’ manifesto as outlined by Allison Danger.
